Listings in Belmead Edmonton

Belmead was built in the 1970s with an emphasis on efficient urban land use and higher densities than surrounding neighborhoods. Its increased density was created to save energy, maintain agricultural land, and improve service delivery efficiency. Multi-unit complexes are located adjacent to public transit lines, close to schools, and near commercial centers in the neighborhood and single-family homes are clustered on each side of the neighborhood's center. The subdivision map shows two distinct periods of development: an early eastern area and a later western component. The property west of 187th Street was set aside for an urban ring road, but when the ring road progressed west, the extra property was incorporated into Belmead and later developed. Belmead is in keeping with the Primrose subdivision's pastoral naming trend and it is an acronym for "beautiful meadows," which is a French phrase.
