Listings in Canossa Edmonton

Prior to urbanization, the Canossa region was mostly utilized for agriculture. The neighborhood began to expand in the early 1990s, although the majority of residential building occurred between 2000 and 2006. Some undeveloped acreage remains in the neighborhood, notably north of 175th Avenue. Anthony Henday Drive runs through Canossa on the north, 121st Street on the east, 167th Avenue on the south, and 112th Street on the west. Canossa is mostly a single-family residential neighborhood with a loop and cul-de-sac route layout. The neighborhood was created to blend in with the neighboring neighborhood's residential growth pattern and to provide a safe, peaceful, and visually beautiful living environment. The neighborhood's first plan was created in 1984, but it has since been updated to reflect improved stormwater management rules, a reduction in standard area requirements for school/park sites, and an increase in the quantity of single-family dwellings. Canossa is named after a historic castle, as has been the practice in the Castle Downs area. The Canossa Castle, located near Bologna in Northern Italy, was erected around 940 AD. In the 11th century, Imperial armies captured the stronghold, which was demolished in 1255. The castle has been renovated several times over the ages, but it is now in ruins.
