In the early 1950s, Crestwood was built while it was formerly known as Jasper Place and Capital Hill, then the City Council asked residents to vote on the new name. For the residents, the North Saskatchewan River Valley is an important feature where on the north, east, and south sides of the neighborhood, there are views of the river valley. There are neighborhood retail centers, churches, schools, a community league, an arena, and a curling club amenities available. Isabelle Connelly Park is named after Alberta's first licensed lady embalmer. Stony Plain Road to the north and Whitemud Drive to the south are both accessible through 149th Avenue, which traverses the length of the neighborhood on the western side. The residential constructions are virtually completely single-detached houses from the 1950s and there are a few semi-detached houses as well as several low-rise apartment complexes in the area. In Crestwood, infill has been a gradual and steady process, with new houses being built to replace older ones on a fairly consistent basis throughout the decades.
