The design of Delwood is typical of 1960s subdivision design. Interior streets follow a modified grid pattern oriented around small pocket parks and a larger park/school site along Delwood Road. The schools are centrally located, and commercial land uses are situated at the corners of the neighbourhood. The neighbourhood includes a variety of housing types, including single and semi-detached homes, row housing and low rise apartments. Josef Chelen Park, located in the northeast corner of the neighbourhood, was named after Josef Chelen who was a Polish-born market gardener in the Beverly Area Delwood was built in the 1960s and has a typical 1960s subdivision design. Along Delwood Road, interior streets follow a modified grid design centered on tiny pocket parks and a larger park/school complex. The schools are in the heart of the neighborhood, while commercial land uses are on the outside. Single and semi-detached homes, row houses, and low-rise flats are among the housing styles found in the area. Josef Chelen Park, in the northeast corner of the neighborhood, was named after Josef Chelen, a market gardener in the Beverly Area who was born in Poland. This neighborhood has existed since the early 1900s and was most likely named for important landowner and politician Edward Delegare "Del" Grierson. The original subdivision names of Industrial Centre, Queen's Park, and East Delton were replaced with Delwood.
