Edmonton extended its limits during the 1970s oil-driven economic boom to meet expected demographic increase. The whole Castle Downs and Lake District region was annexed by Edmonton in 1971. The Castle Downs Outline Plan includes various neighborhoods, including Dunluce. Dunluce's Neighbourhood Outline Plan was adopted in 1974, and by the 1980s, the majority of residential buildings had been finished. Four important thoroughfares divide Dunluce from its neighbors: 153rd and 167th Avenues, 127th Street, and Castle Downs Road. Residents have rapid access to various parts of the city because of the highways. The Castle Downs Recreation Centre is a big facility in the neighborhood's southeast corner, and a community league is located in the neighborhood's heart. At 153rd Avenue and 127th Street, there is also a mobile home park. Between 121 Street and Dunluce Road lies a dry pond. Dunluce, like all of the Castle Downs neighborhoods, is named after a historical castle. Dunluce is a well-known castle on Ireland's north coast.
