Listings in Eastwood Edmonton

Eastwood was subdivided in parts as early as 1906. By 1910, a streetcar line connected Edmonton and the village of North Edmonton, running from 95 Street to 118 Avenue. The eastern portions of Eastwood were subdivided in 1910 and 1913, and development of neighbourhoods along the line, such as Eastwood, was popular. Prior to the amalgamation of the Village of North Edmonton in 1912, Eastwood was part of Edmonton's eastern edge, and its name was likely derived as a descriptive location. A number of homes and businesses were built along the streetcar line and major roads around the time of World War I. The development of the neighborhood slowed as Edmonton's pre-war land boom slowed, and many properties remained undeveloped for years. By the 1950s, the majority of the original construction had been completed. Since then, redevelopment has taken place as older structures have been demolished and replaced.
