Listings in Kernohan Edmonton

Kernohan is located east of Victoria Trail and south of 137 Avenue. The Kennedale Ravine defines the southern limit of the neighborhood. The North Saskatchewan River Valley runs along the eastern border (Hermitage Park). In 1961, the Kernohan neighborhood was acquired by the City of Edmonton, and in 1972, it became part of the Clareview district. The majority of the residential acreage in Kernohan was created during Edmonton's oil-fueled economic boom in the 1970s. Multi-unit housing, which can be seen along Victoria Trail, is an important aspect of the community. Row housing constructions make up around a third of the residential units in the neighborhood. Kernohan Park and Ann Fitzgerald Catholic Elementary School are in the neighborhood's heart. James Kernohan was the inspiration for the name Kernohan. Mr. Kernohan was a pioneer farmer and coal miner in the early 1900s. He and his family moved to Alberta from Ontario in 1884. From 1884 through 1899, he ran a food store.
