Listings in Malmo Plains Edmonton

Malmo Plains is representative of a number of Edmonton's Mature Neighbourhood Overlay communities (MNO). It is largely residential, with a mix of single and semi-detached homes, row houses, and low and high rise apartment complexes that were created in the 1960s. Although a huge multi-family development is planned for the neighborhood, single-detached dwelling is the most common house type. Michener Park, the University of Alberta's married student multi-family development, sits on the western edge of the neighborhood while in the north lies the University of Alberta's south campus and research farm. Majority of the land in the current neighborhood was once part of the University of Alberta research farm, which is located west of the area. The soils in the region were of the malmo type, which is defined as a form of loam, and therefore the neighborhood's name and was provided by Fred Bently, the dean of agriculture at the University of Alberta.
