Listings in Mayliewan Edmonton

Mayliewan is located in the Edmonton North Area Structure Plan's south-central section. The neighborhood is bordered on the north by 167th Avenue, the east by 82nd Street, the west by 74th Street, and the south by 153rd Avenue. Mayliewan's land use is virtually exclusively residential, and it was designed to accommodate mostly single-family homes. The neighborhood began to grow in the 1980s, but the most of the work was completed in the 1990s and lasted far into the 2000s. Most households have direct access to parks and/or one of the two stormwater control lakes, according to the neighborhood's design. In the heart of the neighborhood, there is a huge school and park. The surface of a pipeline right-of-way that runs east-west across the northern part of the neighborhood has been changed into a linear park to promote pedestrian and cycling connectivity for residents. In the northern part of the neighborhood, a pipeline right-of-way runs diagonally east-west and serves as a crucial connecting component within the pedestrian walkway network. The collector road network feeds traffic out of the neighborhood to both 82 Street and 167 Avenue, while local streets drive traffic from the neighborhood's center outward. Mayliewan, like all of Edmonton's Lake District neighborhoods, is named after a body of water. The name "Mayliewan" comes from a Cantonese phrase that means "beautiful bay."
