Listings in McCauley Edmonton

McCauley had been largely subdivided but had seen little development until the new century, named after Edmonton's first mayor, the colorful Matthew McCauley. As Edmonton was incorporated as a city in 1905, and a streetcar line was established in 1908, the line of northeastern extension had cut through the heart of McCauley by 1912, prompting a rapid development. McCauley has seen some redevelopment over the years, but the neighborhood remains primarily residential, with some commercial and industrial land uses. The neighborhood is bordered on the south by the CNR right-of-way, and on the west and north by two major highways (101 Street and Norwood Boulevard). As several major highways run through the area, commercial businesses from Edmonton's Little Italy and Chinatown neighborhoods are concentrated here. There are also a variety of churches clustered around 96 Street ("Church Street") and Commonwealth Stadium are other notable land uses.
