Listings in Mcconachie Edmonton

McConachie is located in northeast Edmonton, near the Pilot Sound region. It was founded in 2006 when the McConachie Neighbourhood Structure Plan was adopted (NSP). Anthony Henday Drive to the north, 66th Street to the west, 167th Avenue to the south, and 50th Street to the east define the neighborhood's boundaries. Anthony Henday Drive, Manning Drive, and 167 Avenue are all within walking distance of the area. As a result, people have easy access to various city conveniences. The neighborhood's development began shortly after the proposal was authorized and is currently ongoing. When finished, the neighborhood will be made up of around two-thirds low-density housing and one-third medium-density housing. Three commercial sites are planned for the neighborhood, with the majority of them being on the south and western edges. There will also be a district park, two school sites, and two stormwater control ponds. An existing tree stand was preserved, and it now runs east-west through the neighborhood. The neighbourhood is named in honour of George William Grant McConachie (1909-1965), an early bush pilot. He pioneered the first scheduled airmail and passenger service between Edmonton and Whitehorse. Mr. McConachie went on to become the CEO of Canadian Pacific airlines and was named a member of Canada’s Aviation Hall of Fame in 1973. Some of the streets are named after W. W. McDonough who gained international recognition as a bush pilot and as a racing pilot. He was president of Trans-American Mining Corporation and Spinet Gold Mines
