Listings in Ottewell Edmonton

Ottewell is one of Edmonton's biggest neighborhoods, which is particularly noteworthy for a neighborhood under Edmonton's Mature Neighbourhood Overlay and it is limited by the major arterials to the east, north, and west, as well as a collector road to the south. Majority of the neighborhood was built in the 1950s and 1960s, and the neighborhood's road layouts reflect subdivision design of the time and most houses are single detached dwellings. Capilano Mall, located in the northeast corner of Ottewell, is the neighborhood's business hub and on the 90th Avenue, there is a smaller business plaza. There are six religious assemblies, seven schools, and several parks, sports fields, and amenities in this huge neighborhood. In addition, Kings University College, a local post-secondary school, is located immediately east of the neighborhood. Braemar was the original name for the neighborhood, and it was also known as East Glenora and East Edmonton Park briefly in the 1910s. The settlement was eventually named for the Ottewell family, who were among the first to establish in the Cloverbar region south of the North Saskatchewan River in 1881. The Ottewells started off as grain farmers before moving into dairying and Ottewell Coal Company and Campbell & Ottewell Flour Mills were founded subsequently. Ottewell's historic log cottage is now on exhibit at 1885 Street in Fort Edmonton Park.
