Listings in Sweet Grass Edmonton

Sweet Grass is a neighborhood in Edmonton's south central district. The neighborhood is bordered on the north by 34th Avenue, the east by 111th Street, the south by a landscaped public utility corridor, and the west by 119th Street. Sweet Grass was annexed to Edmonton in 1964, but it was not until the 1970s that the neighborhood began to flourish. The single-detached home is the most common construction type in Sweet Grass, and it is the most common land use. Multi-family row housing and apartment units, on the other hand, provide a significant contribution to the overall number of dwelling units. Next to the primary school at the neighborhood's heart, there are recreational activities and parkland. Sweet Grass has no commercial properties and few companies, although 111th Street has a wide range of retail and service enterprises, particularly in the neighboring Southgate shopping center. Just southeast of Sweet Grass is the planned Century Park redevelopment on the former Heritage Mall site, and the south Light Rail Transit (LRT) extension goes along 111th Street with a stop at Century Park. Sweet Grass, a Cree Indian chief who was one of the early west's earliest environmentalists and vital in the protection of the endangered plains bison, is honored in this neighborhood.
