Listings in West Meadowlark Park Edmonton

The ancient town of Jasper Place, which was absorbed by Edmonton in 1964, included West Meadowlark Park. When the Town of Jasper Place was created in 1950, 170 Street served as the town's western boundary, and West Meadowlark Park was deemed far from both the town center and Edmonton. The neighborhood did not begin to grow until the 1960s, and residential building continued into the 1980s. The single-detached home is the most common construction type in the neighborhood, while row homes and flats account for well over half of the total living units. Various institutional institutions were placed in West Meadowlark Park as the communities in Edmonton's west end neared completion. Within the neighborhood are Misericordia Hospital, two high schools, two primary schools, an arts school, and a recreation and sports facility. While West Meadowlark Park does not have any major commercial land uses, it is located just east of the Summerlea neighborhood, which has the West Edmonton Mall. Along 170th Street, there are additional commercial and service attractions in addition to the mall. The western meadowlark, a songbird found in southern and central Alberta throughout the summer, is the inspiration for the name of this community.
