Westridge is a long, thin community that stretches all the way to the North Saskatchewan River Valley. To the north lies Patricia Ravine, while to the south is Wolf Willow Ravine. One of the neighborhood's distinguishing qualities is its proximity to and integration with these two ravines, as well as easy access to the North Saskatchewan River Valley system. The western limit of the neighborhood is 170 Street, which also serves as the neighborhood's lone entry. The majority of Westridge's development took place in the 1970s. Single-detached homes, together with a small number of row homes, are the most common structure type, accounting for nearly all of the total residential units. In the heart of the neighborhood, Westridge Park and a community league are placed, while nearby villages include schools. Curvilinear roads and keyhole crescents are used in the interior road design, and a variety of walkways encourage pedestrian circulation around the neighborhood. The neighborhood is centered on Westridge Park and a community league. Prior to urban development the Westridge area was home to Wolf Willow Farm, after which the main collector road that runs through the neighbourhood was named. To further honour the former farm, all of the street names in the neighbourhood begin with the letter “W,” and many incorporate “wolf” or “willow.”
